Manchester City will face Sunderland at the start of the new season of the English Premier League. Here is our soccer forecast.
Pep Guardiola is one of many new managers who will see this season in the English elite. He came to Manchester United from Bayern Munich and his goal will certainly be to lift the title in the Premier League still in his first season as a mentor of the English team.
Guardiola wasted no time in pursuit of this aim, having spent over 150 million pounds for transfers. Ilkaj Gundogan and Nolito, and talented youth, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus joined the team.
The preparation in the summer did not turn out as planned for Guardiola. The team started with the loss against his former team Bayern Munich, after which the City derby with Manchester United was undone. Then they made 1:1 with Borussia Dortmund, and in its final control match with Arsenal lost with 2:3. The 45-year-old Spanish professional is certainly aware that his team needs to show a lot more than that if he wants to fight for the title in 2016/17 season.
Manchester City couldn`t handle easily with Sunderland
Sunderland will also have a new manager this season, although it was not quite at their desire. Sam Allardyce saved `black cats` from relegation in the last campaign as the team did not lose any of their last six games and beat his rival so Northeastern Newcastle, sending him to the `League Championship`.
After the disastrous campaign of England at Euro 2016 Allardyce was elected as the new manager of the `three lions`, and David Moyes has inherited his place in Sunderland. Moyes had many good moments with Everton years ago but then failed at the helm of Manchester United and from there on his career went downhill. Now, however, it is his chance to prove himself at Sunderland and to erase the lasting fame of candidate for relegation.
Manchester City is a favorite in that match, and the odds of them winning is very low. However, this is somewhat counterintuitive given the fact that the team was not on the level of controls over the summer. On the other hand, David Moyes knows very well how to build a team to avoid a defeat. We expect the `black cats` not to lose by more than two goals in that match.
