Szafnauer spoke about a possible competitor for Verstappen.
Former Formula 1 team manager Otmar Szafnauer explained how he feels about the dominance of Red Bull and Max Verstappen.
It`s impossible to get rid of Max. Our sport has already gone through this. Max won`t be champion forever, the situation will change. We had Michael [Schumacher] and Lewis [Hamilton].
There are now Netflix fans who are new to this, and we don`t want to lose them. Will we lose them if Max wins all the time? I have no answer. But we need to celebrate Max`s achievements, not criticize him.
Who would I put against Max? I love Lewis, but he`s at a different stage in his career. I would put Lando [Norris] against Max.
I`m not saying Lando should do this, but you`re asking who can beat Max. No idea. It is very difficult to judge - the pilots must have the same equipment.
But what I respect about Lewis is that he works incredibly hard and is a great driver. I was watching the last race in China, he was driving behind one of the Alpines and said on the radio that he couldn`t catch up. And I looked at the times - everything was the same, they were similar. But where did he finish? Spectacled.
"He`s a great driver, he doesn`t give up and he`s very respectful on the track, which I also admire, " Otmar said.
