Referee Tim Robinson initially awarded a free kick. The assistants told the referee that the foul had been committed inside the Liverpool penalty area, and Robinson pointed to the spot. The referee made the decision after communicating with VAR, without watching the replay.
Igor Thiago converted the penalty to increase Brentford`s lead (3:1, second half).
